Jumping the New Horse! -for Rob

These are a couple pictures of my new eq horse, Gus, and I from schooling today. This was my first time really jumping him since I bought him. We kept things small because he is still pretty out of shape. He was fantastic, but a bit overly enthusiastic! However, our flatwork is really coming along. Please judge both horse and rider. I’m still trying to figure out just how to ride this monster, but I think we’ll get it figured out soon. Thank you!

New Equitation Horse

These are a couple pictures of my new equitation horse, Gus. He is an 18.0 hh 10 year old Hanoverian gelding. He is pretty out of shape right now and his feet need a bit of work (his toes are long based on his x-rays). Please judge. Thank you!

I Got an Eq Horse!!!- for Rob

Rob, today I officially bought an equitation horse. I just want to thank you, because your comments over the past couple years are what truly inspired me to go for this. Your input and encouragement have been invaluable. Thank you for everything!

Meet Gus, aka Gratify. He is my 18 hh 10 year old Hanoverian EQUITATION HORSE!!

For anyone interested, my goal is to qualify for the Maclay finals on a budget. I have a blog to follow my journey. It’s http://bigeqspectations.com/, please check it out!

For Rob

These are a couple pictures of my just-turned 6 year old jumper prospect, Prize, and I over a 1.10 meter oxer today. I know I kind of laid down on her neck in the second picture, I wasn’t expecting the huge effort she gave me! Please judge both of us. Thank you!

Also, my eq horse is being delivered on Saturday!!! I hope to get some pictures of him up ASAP!

Trying a Possible Equitation Horse- for Rob

Rob, this is a picture of me on my latest equitation horse possibility. I think this one may actually work out! He is a 10 year old Hanoverian gelding who is beautifully trained and will be ready to step into the ring once he is back in shape. He was absolutely a dream to ride, even though we weren’t riding in the best conditions (uneven grass field that was slightly wet, and this saddle was trying it’s hardest to put me in a chair seat, which wasn’t helped by my stirrups being a couple holes short). I would love to hear your comments on his suitability for me and my position. We vetted him on Monday, and are waiting for his blood work to come back. If that’s clear, then I will actually have an eq horse!!!

For those of you interested, I have a blog, http://bigeqspectations.com/, about my efforts to get into the equitation ring. Please check it out!

Video- for Rob

Rob, I posted a few pictures a couple days ago (http://www.judgemyride.net/schooling-ring/for-rob-17.html)  and here is a video from the same day. This is a small course that I was using to work on my equitation, I know there are a few things that need to be fixed. Please judge me only, as Max is very out of shape. Thank you!

I do have a quick question. As you can see, Max stumbled in the corner. Is that something that the judge will count off for in the equitation?

For anyone interested, I have a blog, http://bigeqspectations.com/, about trying to find an equitation horse and get into the eq ring! Please check it out

For Rob!

These are a few pictures from today. The top picture is my former pony jumper (from the clinic) and me (we were not jumping very impressive jumps, as Max is very out of shape at the moment). I was working on my equitation, which was actually going fairly well today. I’m vetting an eq horse on Monday, who I think you will LOVE, if I get him!

The bottom two pictures are a sequence of my jumper prospect, Prize, and me over a 1.00-1.10 m square oxer. I’ve had Prize since she was two, so it makes me incredibly happy to see the horse she is turning into!

Please judge both horses and rider. Thank you!

First 1.00 meter Jump Off!

This is a video of my coming 6 year old in her first 1.00 meter jump off. This was her third show ever, her first show since last August, and her second trip ever at 1.00 meter. Because she is just a baby, I wanted to take it slow, but still give her some experience with some tighter turns. She completely blew me away with how responsive she was (I guess the training has been paying off!) and we actually ended up winning the class. She absolutely loves being in the show ring and I can’t wait to see how far she goes! Please judge horse and rider. Thank you!

Rob, if you are the one judging this, this is the mare from my last post where you were asking how she was in the show ring. This is how she is every time out!

For Rob

This is my 5 year old jumper prospect, Prize, and me schooling the other day. Rob, last time I posted a picture asking for a jumper critique, you told me I should relax and feel free to get a little bit closer to them in the jumpers. I was entirely focusing on her, so this is me relaxed! I know I’m a little close to the neck for equitation, but is this better for jumpers? I’ve had Prize since she was 2 and have done all the training on her, along with my dad/trainer. We are hoping to take her to her first rated show in May. Please judge horse and rider, thanks!

No stirrup work

I decided to do some no stirrup work today on the old man, Cody (a 16 year old QH gelding, who is actually being picked up on Wednesday to go to his new lease home). I know the jumps aren’t very big, and things could still be smoothed out some. Cody’s jump is not an easy one to ride, so I thought it would be good for me to work on my position on him. Please judge rider only. Thanks in advance!
