Saddle Position

Hi again,

A while back I posted a question on the size of the saddle I’m using with my lease: wether it’s too small or if it’s my technique that’s causing the issue of coming out of the saddle when jumping. Here is a picture to reference it

Position in Saddle?

Hi all,

Last year I started leasing a very athletic 14.2hh pony (I am 5ft 4) and we work really well together because of the way he’s trained, my level etc. It wasnt a problem at first, but I noticed this when he took a long take off before a jump my knees immediately went infront of the saddle when I landed.(I didnt see the long and it was BIG).

When I sit on him, my knees are on the very edge of his saddle on the knee roll. If I put my leg back, my ankles are so stiff Im pushed forward and if I put my leg forward my bum is right on the back (cantle?) of the saddle. Basically the saddle ‘just’ fits me. Im leasing, so the saddle isn’t my property to change but I believe this is affecting a lot of my riding as I break over way too far when we jump and I can’t move my leg very much at all. I’ve ridden 16h horses and when I break over the way I do (too far) it looks normal because there is more horse neck under me. Now, is this the saddle like I think it is? Or is it my position? Also tips on how to deal with a long upper body and thigh would help too :) Thank you for reading!

Quarter Horse Mare:)

I drew this last year :) This is when I’ve got nothing else to do so I draw and add some detailing. All my horse sketches turn out to be Quarter horses if I’m not doing a specific breed but that’s okay!
