I started riding a new horse, Memphis, recently. Here is a picture of us schooling a 3′ oxer. I think he is going to be my new equitation horse, so I will be showing him in the equitation and children’s hunters! We are going to our first show together on Saturday. He has a pretty powerful jump, which is very different than what I am used to, but please judge my equitation. Thanks!

I have a lot of big and “lofty” goals for riding such as being able to continue doing well in the Eq and move up to the 3′ eq, start showing and doing well in Medals, qualify for VHSA Medal finals, show in the prestigious Medals (Pessoa, THIS, USEF Talent Search, etc.), and to just become the best rider that I can be. A lot of these are more long term goals, but I love riding and am very passionate about it, I just feel like I won’t be able to acheieve some of these goals…and that’s because of my resources.
As of now, my parents are only able to drive me out to the barn (which is over an hour drive) on the weekends. Therefore riding more often just isn’t an option for me. When I do ride on Saturday’s and Sunday’s, after my lessons, I am out there all day trying to ride as many horses and ponies that I can fit into one day. I would say that I do work hard, trying to make the best of my situation and all, but even with that occasionally I feel as if I will never be able to do what I want to do. Me not being able to ride as much as most other people and my family also doesn’t have a bunch of extra money lying around that we can spend on countless shows. Plus, my parents don’t ride and have never ridden so I can’t ask for any guidance from them.
I do think I am headed in the right direction as my trainer knows of my goals and said I could accomplish them, but do you guys have any tips on what else I can do? If there any way that I could possibly get noticed or get a sponsor? Any ideas on how to make some extra money to help pay for my riding? Or ways to just get my name out in the horse world so I could maybe exercise people’s horses or even catch ride? I just want to do any and everything to accomplish my goals (or more!) and any advice would be useful. Thanks so much!

This is from Sunday, my first show on Shadwell who’s a jumper not a hunter. We showed in the eq and the 2’6″ children’s hunters and were champion in the hunters and I got 1st in the eq on the flat (didn’t pin in over fences because the course was changed from when I schooled over it, so I went over an extra jump :/) I was wondering if you could please judge my eq in this photo. From my lesson on Sunday with Shadwell. We are showing on Saturday in the hunters and eq, even though he isn’t really a hunter horse; we are just showing in the hunters to practice and get more experience together since he is a lot of horse to handle.
