What happened to the eventing judge?

Wasn’t there an eventer who was judging the eventing ring for a while? What happened to him? It was really nice but I never got to post anything while he was here. :(

Also I’ve noticed that pictures that are posted only in the eventing ring (as in, not in the eventing and schooling or eventing and jumper rings) are not getting judged at all. I know the judges are really busy, but the people who post in the eventing ring never get their photos judged unless they post them in another ring as well. So, is there any way that this can be fixed?

Artie and I schooling today

Artie and I had a jump lesson today and he was great. I got a couple good pictures, so please judge us both, thanks!

I know he’s already starting to come down here, so his knees aren’t as good as they can be.

We got a very, very deep distance to this jump (if you can tell) but I was super impressed by his knees anyway. They weren’t quite all the way up, but we got so close they’re still impressive. My position isn’t the greatest here but I was just trying to stay out of his way. :)

Improvement?

This is a picture of my 6 year old OTTB, Artie, from today (left) and last summer when he was five (right). I posted the older picture on here quite a while ago and since then we’ve been working on his topline. The biggest improvement, although it’s not very visible in the pictures, is that he filled in a ton of muscle right behind his shoulders/withers. His neck is still a work in progress, but it’s better than it was last year (at least, it appears so to me). Please excuse the cribbing collar in the picture from today!

What do you think? (Click on the picture to view it full size)

Novice test A – please judge horse only :)

This is Artie, my 6 year old OTTB, and I at our most recent show. We scored a rather awful 50 in this test because he just can’t wrap his head around the hectic warmup at events yet and was very excited. This wasn’t what the majority of our test looked like but this picture turned out well…in terms of him, anyway.

Please just judge Artie since I know my position is pretty bad here and I’m very tipped forward. I was just trying to keep him from running around in this test. Thanks!

P.S. if you happen to notice the fact that he has his mouth open/tension in his jaw, I don’t know why but he does that whenever he’s being ridden, whether it’s jumping or dressage does not matter. I don’t think it has anything to do with the contact, he just loves to gnaw on the bit.

Artie jump lesson

This was from a jump lesson a little while ago. The jump is about 2’9″.  My position is not the greatest but Artie looks pretty good here I thought. Sorry about the quality, it’s from a video!

Rob, this is the same horse that you commented on my XC photo and said his legs were awful. He was actually already coming down at that point, and this is what his knees usually look like, if not better. We get a lot of tight spots because he has a huge stride, but he still always has his knees up. :)

Please judge us both, thanks!

Artie XC schooling

This is me and  my horse, Artie, who is a 6 year old OTTB, XC schooling a couple weeks ago. The jump is about 3′.  Sorry for the picture quality – it’s from a video. Please judge us both, thanks!

For Deborah Rosen

This is my horse, Artie, and I. Artie is a 6 year old, 15.1hh OTTB gelding. We have competed BN and are moving up to Novice for the first event of the year (less than a month now!).  We went from him trying to buck me off almost every ride and bucking through every warmup at our first show last summer to jumping bareback and bridleless. He’s my first horse and I’m hoping to get to the NAYRC with him eventually.

I couldn’t choose the best picture, so I’m sorry there are a lot! Your advice is greatly appreciated!

I know I look awful in this but Artie was jumping so well I had to post it.

I know I look awful in this but Artie was jumping so well I had to post it. I wasn’t really used to him jumping this round at this point.

Artie and I schooling

Please judge my 6 y/o OTTB Artie and I schooling the other day. The jump is a about 2’6″-2’9″.  Sorry it’s horrible quality, but I thought you could still see my release and that my heels are down. Thanks!

Schooling Artie in the snow

I posted a picture of Artie and I  from a show the other day but it wasn’t a great one. Here are a couple from schooling today. I think my jacket is making it look like I’m hunching over a lot but I’m really not. I know I have a bad habit of letting my reins, especially my left one, get really long, and you can definitely see it in the pictures :/

Please judge us both, thanks a ton!

Huge improvement!

This is my 6 year old OTTB Artie and I at a dressage show last weekend. We do eventing and during the winter we do some dressage shows, but dressage is not our strong point. We’ve been working very hard on dressage the past 4 months and I was really proud of Artie at this show. We got a 63.something on this test, which was soo much better than our last score of a 45.7 (eventing scoring)/54.3 (dressage scoring). We got nothing lower than a 6 on this test and this movement was an 8!

This was right before our free walk across the diagonal, we were doing Novice test A (in preparation for the first event of the season). I’m sorry it’s really blurry (it was inside) but I think you can hopefully see well enough. Anyone can judge but an official opinion would be nice. Also just so you know, my saddle is not a dressage saddle, it’s a jumping saddle but it’s the only one I have right now :)

Thanks in advance, and sorry for the huge explanation!
