I’ve had my pony for over a year now, and the very first show we took him to, he was uncontrollably fast. Now, he is still very forward, but I have complete control. The problem is that forward looks terrible in the hunters. He jumps nice but just races through the lines. I know he has the capability to be slow, but he is so inconsistent with it. We definitely let him know that slow is good; when he is slow, he gets TONS of treats, pats, and hugs. I don’t know if it is time to move on or what. Someone please help me!!!
The first clip is when he was at a good pace and the second was when he was quick, but it’s been worse than it is in this video.

Hi! My pony seems to get very nervous and anxious at shows, causing him to be quick. He has improved, but he is only 7, so wearing him out with lunging/galloping around the ring for a little while doesn’t get his energy out. He is at a controllable pace, but his speed causes him to not pin very well. Does anyone have any tips to help? Thanks!

This is me, Nikki, and my pony Northwind Country Squirrel, aka Squirrel. Being 13 years old, I deserve to be JMR’s poster child because I have been riding just a few years short of my entire life. I have been an active participant in Judge My Ride since the original Facebook page, and it is exquisitely helpful to me, considering that I always apply every critique to my daily riding. From bringing home the blue to not pinning at all, I am devoted and passionate about my riding. My pony Squirrel has been to Pony Finals in the greens, but with his previous owner. I have done locals with him so far, and we are planning our first A show together in December. I want to take him to Pony Finals and show in the Mediums and the medal there. I hope to go to the bigger shows and compete in the Big Eq when I get a horse (which is a long way away).
I realize I am just a young pony rider, but I will still represent. I will represent the potential of the young; I will represent the future of equitation and equestrians, the future of Judge My Ride. I will represent the hope and opportunity that JMR is filled with, and I will represent you all. Please consider me for Poster Child!

This is like the best I’ve ever seen him jump. Ever. Haha he left a stride out it was supposed to be a 5, but he made it a 4…he took this jump REALLY long, but he looks amazing!!!!!!
