‘Blooper’ Just for Fun, but Judge my EQ ?
Saw this video still someone posted of my large pony, Wrangler, from the schooling show we did today. He was ridden by a leaser in the jumpers all year, and this was a hunter show. He did great in his first 2 hunter rounds, and we won, but this was in the EQ course with a few sharper turns. He took them as a cue to TAKE off. When I tried to whoa him up a bit, he just got mad and starting bucking
This was the second in a line he bucked all the way into. HAHA
We were providing great entertainment for all the other riders ! I noticed that my EQ look semi decent in it as well. Its hard for me, since he is a large and I’m 5’9″, to hold my legs on him.
Large Pony Jumper – Judge Horse ONLY
This is ‘Wrangler’ my large pony. THE RIDER IS NOT ME, it is his leaser from this past year! This was from his first ever ‘Combined Training’ show in the Jumper portion. I thought it was a cute photo and wanted to get some other opinions on his jumping style/ability.
Just in case anyone in my area sees this, he is for ONSITE lease in Smithfield NC !

SAU ‘Riding’ Open House
These are some brief video clips from last weekend. It was the St.Andrew’s Open House and I got a chance to ride for the coaches. The horse was a bit of a challenge, and of course I had never ridden him before. He was painfully lazy on the flat, and then got pretty frisky over the few small jumps we did. I almost felt like there might have been some discomfort in his hind end ? Anyways please feel free to give me some advice. I know I do this weird thing with my arms over the jumps. Not really sure why, any tips would be greatly appreciated !
1st Place Hunter Flat :) Judge Horse and Rider
This is DeeDee, her registered/show name is Bombay Sapphire. This picture is from our winning class at the NC State Fair Youth Day Show for the 17-18 yr olds. It was a huge class (20+ people) and Dee was perfect ! I know my hands are dropped a tad breaking the line between elbow and bit, but other then that how do we look ? I suppose my toes could also be in a tad. I did purchase the ‘web’ version of this photo, which is why there is still a tiny watermark by her leg, but this is the image the photographer emailed to me
Judge Horse and Rider :)
This is me and the mare I lease, Bombay Sapphire. She is a 16.1hh Hano/TB. This was the year end award show. We won Champion for the year in our 2ft division, and I got 3rd place year end in the EQ on the Flat. As far as my EQ in the jumping photo, I know I am pinching with my knees. After seeing the images from this show, my trainer has been working with me on it. It has gotten much better !
Casanova – 16.2hh TB Gelding
This is a horse form my friend’s barn. I have ridden him maybe 5 times before ? He is OTT, and they have yet to get his right lead :/ He is very difficult to hold you leg to, and you also have to give him a lot of ‘drive’ to get him up in the bridle. He is mainly ridden w/t by lesson kids and is allowed to get very heavy and have his nose sticking out. He did pretty well for me after I got spurs though
Feel free to judge him, but mainly I am looking for pointers to improve my equitation ! Thanks.
Ohh, and he has learned some nasty refusing habits from the lesson kids that ride him, so he had almost completely stopped before realizing that he had to jump it. Hence the deep distance
16.1hh TB Gelding – Judge us Both :)
My old horse, Ty. These pictures are from a 2’6″ hunter round.
I know he isn’t very tight with his knees, he was unimpressed with the jump height. He also had never shown in this ring before so he was kind of ‘looky’. I think that is why he is chipping in to these jumps, he just wasn’t paying a whole lot of attention. I think it was his 5th or 6th show ?
