Conformation

Can I get someone to judge his conformation? One thing I know is he is mildly sickle hocked, and I’ve had people tell me I need to build up his topline. Any suggestions on how to do that? Please and thank you. :)

Cute gelding! It’s hard to judge very much, as the photo is a little small and the side shot is taken in a manner that makes his front half look bigger than his back half. I like to step way back so I have to zoom in a bit; this seems to get rid of any distortion from the camera.

  2. I don’t think he is really sickle hocked, I more notice that his hind leg is straight and set on slightly behind him. He does toe out substantially. His withers are well laid back but fairly low. His shoulder is average. His neck ties onto the shoudler well but is slightly long on the underside. His top line is adequately muscled and his croup is steep. Overall he has a typical reining type build, which is great for stopping! These horses usually jump well too but may be slightly shorter strided than some Thoroughbreds
