Dressage Prospect please judge!

This is video of our five year old andalusian mare at liberty this april. She is quite forwards, loves to canter so an experienced rider is nesscary. Alegria is the type of horse that has enough energy to go for hours and doesn’t get tired. Please judge her conformation and movement. For Sale $18000

I saw her jumping video which you posted in another category. I really liked how regular and honest she was during that course and for her young age.
I love the breed and was actually hoping to find an Andalusian cross when I shopped around for our first horse. Ended up going for a warmblood instead. Andalusians are hard to find!
That said (in my very non professional opinion), she is not the best specimen of her breed I have seen. Her neck is short. Her head attachment is not the most refined and she is a bit “stocky”. I am sure as she works more and hopefully grows some more, she will muscle out and lose some of her belly but I found her price to be quite steep for where she is out at this point. Plus her gaits are nice but not really as spectacular as I know her breed usually produces. Not too much knee action of course can be a plus in dressage as it can be penalized but I would like to see a bit more suspension and lightness in her gaits.
I hope you find her a good home.

  2. Thanks for your comments but I’d like to point out that this horse was not the one jumping in the video! They are two different horses! This mare has never jumped. Also she is priced so high because of the training she’s had and her lineage.

My bad. She looked just the same! I figured you jumped her too. At five, she surely is not too young.
What training does she have for that price? She doesn’t jump (yet). If you are marketing her as a dressage prospect, show everyone what she can do with a rider. I think it would show her off better.
I understand lineage (although it is not always a guaranteed result) but that video didn’t show her under the best “light”…

  4. She has been under saddle for 2 and a half years, 1 of those years professionally trained and the other few with me. It may seem expensive to most people but andalusians tend to be worth a little more. You can easily sell an untrained for 10000, so if they have training on them they are worth more. Also she is was Canadian National Champion, and she has great movement and height, which are key factors in the andalusian breeding today. I do understand the video isn’t great because she had her winter coat still and I should really get some new stuff out there, because with all her winter hair gone she is a different horse!
