Jersey-Conformation

This is Jersey, my new 17 hand Dutch x Thoroughbred cross. As of now, were getting him fatter, and building up those hip, neck, and butt muscles with lots and lots of groundwork. He will be showing in the babygreens, and hunters this year. Perhaps sometime in the future, we will take on the jumpers together. He is still young, 6 years old, and has not fully matured being a late bloomer. He is very easy, and aims to please. We are working on head down w/ draw reins also, but if anyone has some exercise ideas, I would really appreciate it!  Anyways, if someone judged his conformation, it would mean a lot!

  1. Jersey has nice short cannons and good bone. Her heels appear to be quite low. Her withers are well defined and well laid back. Her shoulder is nice. Her neck ties onto the shoulder well and is slightly long on the underside. Her back may be slightly long. Her hind leg appears to be correct.

One of my favorite training tools is my german martingale. It helped to teach my horse how to move from the leg, and frame off of the leg with minimal contact with the mouth. It is great for building up correct muscle. I love it.
