This is me and my yearling APHA filly at her first show in a halter class. She placed 4th out of nine in this class. I am planing to show Maria”‘Ria” in Western Pleasure and HUS classes when she is older on the APHA curcuit. I would like her conformation judged. I know her hips are up in these pictures(She only a year old and is still growing) but I know that should even out. Thanks!

She is really cute and I love the color. I know it is hard when they are growing and get hip high or go through different stages. I would say her topline through her neck is a little long and she looks like she could be a touch U necked so I would say she will be a canidate for lots of rounding and lifting to strengthen that topline as she gets older. I would also say you run a risk of a weak back that will need a lot of work on lifting and strengthening those muscles in her back. I would just be aware and keep an eye on that topline as she grows and be ready to start lots of strengthening and muscle building of the neck and back. For the western pleasure due to how long that neck is on the topside and the angle her shoulder ties in to how far back her wither is you may have a difficult time getting her really tight and strong upfront in the shoulder and rounded to sit back on the hip. I would just keep an eye and be aware of those things as she grows up as she may grow out of some of that as well as it might not be a problem when she is starting her western pleasure. I would also keep an eye on her upfront as she is growing so she doesn’t end up over at the knee as she is a slight behind but correcting her in her trims at a young age can help as well.
She is a cutie and should be a great rider, just keep an eye on those couple things. Enjoy this nice colored and marked filly.
So in the top photo her knees don’t look like they do in the second, where they look over at the knee, so it might be angle and how she is set up in second photo.
