Please judge conformation on my 9 y/o QH

Gary is a 16’1 or 16’2, purebred QH. He raced from age 3 to 6, and has been off the track 3 full years now. I’ve been leasing/working with him quite hard since April, and before April he had TONS of time off sitting in the field.
Sorry about all the ugly scratches and cuts, he’s a bully in the herd and picks fights with all the other horses. We are moving him barns soon though where he’ll hopefully only have 4 or 5 other pasture mates, resulting in much less ugly scars :) Do you think his confirmation is best for hunter or jumper? We showed both this summer, doing decent in both, but not sure which one to pursue/train for next summer so we can focus on just one or the other.
Thanks in advance :)

  1. He certainly has plenty of muscle to jump! If he likes the jumpers, why not try focusing on that? He has nice short cannons and good bone. His withers are well defined and well laid back. His shoulder is nice. His neck ties onto the shoulder well and he has a nice crest. His top line is smooth, possibly slightly long backed. His hind leg appears to be correct.

Thanks so much Carol! :) I was hoping to pursue jumpers, hopefully in the Trillium circuit in Ontario. I’ve never shown trillium, but have done OEF skills development shows (which I’ve been told actually tend to have tougher competition) and we placed the last few shows pretty well!
