Please judge our round?

Forget what this class is technically called but it’s the one with the immediate jump off right after. My mom didn’t know about the jump off so she stopped recording, but we went clear on the jump off too and placed 5th. Please judge myself where I did something well and where I need to improve, as well as Gary :) Thanks!

I don’t think you had a solid enough connection to your horse. He was too “soft”. He cross cantered most of the round. For jumpers, it’s a good thing, to have your horse pull you to the fences…..but you have to make him pull you. That should make him easier to steer, and leave the ground more solidly each time.

I think your horse would do better in the hunter ring. He has a nice smooth rhythm. Your upper body is nice but you have loose lower legs, not all the time, but you lost your stirrup at one point, which means you have to keep your heals done more. Also in the jumpers you want to shorten your reins and keep your hands higher, your feet underneath and make sure you are going from leg to hand driving the energy forward. I notice that you were pulling your horse with your reins sometimes in the turn, you want to make sure you have even contact with your hands and use your legs to get around the turn, keeping your horse balanced and maintaining the energy in every turn. Just some advice! :)
