Jumping the Ponies again- for Rob

This is me jumping my old pony jumper, Penny, a few days ago. Charlie, my new horse,  re-injured an old bowed tendon (we didn’t know about it, but it was probably from his racing days).  It will probably take at least 6 months for him to go back to serious work. So I’m back to just have some fun on the ponies until Prize, my little jumper prospect, is ready to go back into work (she has surgery to remove a benign skin tumor). These fences are tiny, but it was 105 degrees out and she hasn’t been seriously worked in a bit, so I didn’t want to push it. Please judge only me. Penny is out of practice, so she wasn’t jumping in the best form. Thanks! :) First picture I was jumping without hands, which I haven’t done in over 3 years. Second picture is just normal! I’m still working on getting myself an eq horse, Rob! I haven’t given up yet ;)

Sorry I’m not a judge, but I just had to leave you a comment. I cannot get over your leg and heel!! They’re just incredible! Your toes are turned out a little bit, but it’s almost unnoticeable. Your body position is nearly perfect. Only things I would offer a critique on is maybe close the space between her mane and your chest a tiny bit and give a bit more of a release, since she seems to like to drop her head down low over fences.

Even without your hands, you maintained good position, and terrific leg & heel placement. (The horse left 1 knee down!) In that lower photo, I don’t think you released your hands & arms far enough forward. Close your body down a little closer to your horse’s neck, and reach your elbows & forearms forward more, so that your elbows aren’t right next to the front of your saddle. How’s everything? Keep working on that eq horse….you could become a STAR!
