Videos from Sunday’s Jump Lesson

Rob –

I promised I’d get some videos for you, so here they are! My editing software stopped working, so I had to upload the clip individually, SORRY! :(

I watched all 3 of your short videos. In that first one, you took a dead straight line from the little exercise to that tall vertical along the rail. That forces the horse to turn as he is jumping. That is a trick course designers use to try and get a rail down. The more sophisticated ride, would be to put a little more bend in the line, so you get to the vertical dead square & straight.
I thought you got jumped loose in the 2nd video, and fell back with your body prematurely.
The 3rd one…..I liked. Your horse has plenty of jump, and it appears you have a good eye.

To add to Rob, I was only able to see the second and third video and I liked your forward canter and how well you maintained it in the turn. I also liked how you took a 3 point position coming out of the turn to really balance your horse as your approached the oxer. Your horse has a fantastic jump which you got jumped a bit loose in the second video but the third video was much better. You also have a tendency to do a “double-break” where you stretch up in the landing which is a very effective in show jumping.
