Casey’s First Show

Alright, so Casey (Show name Claim to Fame) is my 4 year old TB rescue that I’ve had for two years now.  He’s been going under saddle for a year and this picture is from both of ours first show in September.  It was a schooling show, but next spring we will be doing silver hacks and maiden hunters.  He placed first, first and second in one division on the show day, making us champion, and took two seconds and a third in the second division making us reserve.  He had so much heart that day and I couldn’t have been prouder.  I know I have a nasty habit of turning my hands in, and I’m trying to correct it.  But please feel free to judge horse and rider.  =D

OTTB Project Horse

This is me and my OTTB mare, Skagit Skye, whom I purchased with barely any training on her while I was in high school and brought up from Trot-a-Pole to the 1.30m Jumpers. She actually spent the first two years with me recovering from Lymphangitis and my trainer was intimidated by her, so she never let me do more than cross-rails on her… I switched trainers and in 6 months we went from Cross-Rails to the 1.30m! I no longer have her, as she developed arthritis in both her hocks, and she is just a pasture pet for a friend of mine.

Skagit Skye competing in the Cross-Rails division at a Southern Nevada Hunter/Jumper Assoc. show in early 2005.

Skagit Skye and I schooling 1.20m at our trainer’s facility two months before we started showing 1.30m!

USEA Training Level Combined Test

Please judge horse only… Thanks!

This is my Thoroughbred gelding, Phineas, and I at a local Pony Club’s benefit Combined Test in 2010. We are towards the end of the test, where you are to show a progressive lengthening of stride in trot (I usually have to hold him back because his trot can get so big very quickly and easily).  I know that I have some flaws in my position (I am very much so aware of my bad wrists… they’ve been plaguing me for many years and the fact that the saddle I am using is a bit small, as it was borrowed from a friend at the last minute),  so I am only looking for some opinions on my horse, and his overall frame and presence for this level of competition.

Critique hores and rider!

This is me riding my 8yr old OTTB. I am working on slowing her down at all gaits because she is very fast and strong. She hates it when i use leg pressure. please critique me and her!
